Bill Blass

Bill Blass offered one of the few American couture houses of the 20th century. During the 1970s, he was loved by the connected, and expanded himself to the masses through licensing and product designing. The company was sold, closed couture and continues to offer prêt-à-porter in the same spirit.

Above Blass in Lake Idaho. His lifestyle amounted to over $50 million in property and furnishings, half of which was donated to the Met upon his death.

Fulco di Verdura

The Verdura home in Palermo

Born into Italian aristocracy in Palermo, Verdura was recognized as an artisan jeweler by Chanel who invited him to join her in Paris. Verdura then went to the US and began collaborating with artists and accessorizing films with Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman among others.
